CRAFTSKILLS SYSTEM

Master the five pillars of craftsmanship and create items of legend.

About Craftskills

The Craftskills system divides character crafting into five specialties, each with its own progression and purpose. Whether you gather raw materials, refine them into usable resources, craft finished goods, practice magecraft, or maintain essential trades, there is a path for every artisan on Sinfar.

Check your skill ratings with !SKILLS. Create items with !CRAFT.

Gathering

The foundation of all craftsmanship: harvesting raw materials from the world.

Skill Description
Butchering Harvest meat and hides from slain creatures
Fishing Catch fish and aquatic materials from waters
Forestry Harvest wood, bark, and plant materials from forests
Logging Fell trees and cut timber for construction
Mining Extract ore, gems, and stone from the earth

Refining

Transform raw materials into refined resources ready for crafting.

Skill Description
Gemcutting Cut and polish raw gems into finished stones
Smelting Smelt raw ore into usable metal ingots
Tanning Cure hides into supple leather
Weaving Spin fibres into thread and cloth
Woodworking Shape wood into planks and finished components

Crafting

Create finished goods from refined materials. These are the core trades that produce equipment and goods.

Jewellery Craft rings, amulets, and ornaments from gems and metal
Leatherworking Craft leather armour, belts, and goods
Tailoring Sew cloth armour and fine garments
Weaponsmithing Forge blades and metal weapons

Using Craftskills

Check Your Skills

Type !SKILLS in-game to view your current progress in all Craftskills categories. The system will display your rating in each of the five specialties: Gathering, Refining, Crafting, Magecraft, and Trades. Use this to track your progress and identify which skills need development.

Create Items

Type !CRAFT to open the crafting interface. Select the skill category, then choose which item to create. Your success depends on your skill rating in that category — higher skill means faster crafting and better quality results. Failed attempts do not consume materials but waste time and effort.

Skill Progression

Skills improve through use. The more you craft, gather, and refine, the faster your rating increases. Each successful craft contributes experience toward your skill rating. Attempting more difficult recipes provides faster progression but carries higher risk of failure.

Skill ratings range from 0 (untrained) to 100 (master craftsman). At higher ratings, you unlock access to recipes of greater complexity and value. The journey from novice to master is long, but the rewards are worth the effort.

Tips for Success

  • Start with Gathering — all crafts require raw materials; build your gathering skills first
  • Specialise early — focus on one or two crafts before spreading yourself thin
  • Study the recipes — understand which materials you need before attempting difficult crafts
  • Level gathering skills in tandem — refining and crafting are only as strong as your ability to source materials
  • Save your materials — failed attempts waste resources; craft items you're likely to succeed at when learning
  • Ask experienced crafters — the Sinfar crafting community is helpful; seek advice on difficult recipes
  • Think long-term — becoming a master takes time, but the payoff is items other players will value and seek you out to commission
